Lot 1016 DESIRABLE CURIO & RELIC LONG BRANCH CHINESE
CONTRACT STEN MK II SUBMACHINE GUN. Cal. 9mm (9x19mm Parabellum). S# 12 L 3305. Bbl. 8". 1 of only approx. 73,000 Sten Mk II submachine guns mfg. in Canada at the Long Branch arsenal for the Chinese Nationalist military. The top of the mag. well exhibits 3-lines of Chinese characters, appearing to denote the model and country of origin. Underside of the mag. well is stamped with the S# above "STEN MK II/ LONG BRANCH/ 1945". Left side of the trigger housing is stamped with what appears to be a "CA/ 90" within an oval proof. Metal components exhibit what appears to be their original dark parkerized finish, with the bbl. and some small parts being blued. Forward 3/4 of the bbl. nut exhibits a notably lighter parkerized finish and appears to be have refinished at one time. Bolt is polished in-the-white, exhibiting an electro-penciled encircled broad arrow proof on the left side. Bbl. nut and rear of stamped steel stock are mounted with a 1944 dated khaki web sling. MAGS: 1 blued 32-rd. mag. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their apparent original arsenal parkerized finish, exhibiting some light to mild edge wear, as well as scattered superficial handling marks and scratches overall. Bbl. exhibits some spots of pitting beneath the finish. Near mirror bore, exhibiting scattered spots and a few streaks of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Sling shows age related discoloration and some wear, but otherwise remains sound. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION.
